GCal guide

Fix empty or outdated widgets

Check the agenda first, then the widget’s configuration and refresh state.

Check the same events in GCal

  1. Open GCal and inspect the menu-bar agenda for the date the widget shows.
  2. If the events are missing there too, check Settings → Accounts and Settings → Calendar. Follow Find missing calendars or events before changing the widget.
  3. If the agenda is correct, Control-click the widget and check its edit options, when available. Confirm the layout and date range fit what you expect.

Refresh without resetting your account

  1. With GCal open and online, choose View → Refresh Calendars.
  2. Allow macOS time to update the widget. Updates do not always appear at the same instant as the app.
  3. If the widget stays out of date, remove that widget and add it again from the widget gallery. You may need to reapply its individual settings.

Removing a widget does not delete your calendar events.

If GCal is absent from the widget gallery

Launch the installed app once, then reopen the gallery and search for GCal. Desktop placement requires macOS 14 or later; use Notification Center on macOS 13. If the gallery still does not list GCal, restart your Mac and check for an app update.

When contacting support, include the widget layout, its size, your macOS version, and whether the menu-bar agenda shows the correct events.
