GCal guide

Use the menu-bar agenda

See upcoming events and tasks, create items, and open GCal from the menu bar.

Requires Premium or existing Classic access. Feature availability

Enable the menu-bar icon

  1. Open Settings → General.
  2. Turn on Icon in Menu Bar.
  3. Choose its display and theme. Premium access also provides upcoming-event text beside supported icon styles.

Choose what the agenda shows

The menu-bar agenda uses the accounts and calendars selected for GCal’s native agenda. Connect sources in Settings → Accounts, choose calendars in Settings → Calendar, and choose task lists in Settings → Tasks. Meeting-only and Focus settings can narrow what appears.

Choose the click behavior

Under Open Menu / Open Window in General settings, choose which click opens the agenda and which opens the main window. Clicking the same mouse button again closes the open menu. You can always dismiss it by clicking elsewhere.

If the menu is empty or outdated

Compare it with the selected calendars in Settings and check whether a Focus filter or meeting-only option is active. Choose View → Refresh Calendars for a change made outside GCal. If several native surfaces are missing the same event, follow the missing-calendar checklist.
