# Restore a missing Buy button in Apple’s purchase window

Complete a GCal purchase when Apple’s confirmation window shows only Cancel or hides its Buy, Touch ID, or password controls.

These guides cover GCal 4.0.0 for Mac.

## Why the purchase controls can disappear

After you choose a Premium option in GCal, macOS opens a purchase confirmation window provided and controlled by Apple. It normally shows the product, price, Apple Account, and a Buy, Touch ID, or password control.

Reports across macOS show that these secure controls can disappear when another app captures the screen or draws over the purchase window. Screen sharing, screen recording, remote displays, display utilities, window borders, floating assistants, and other overlays can trigger the problem. The window may then show Cancel and nothing else.

A separate macOS presentation problem can place the window behind the menu bar or clip its lower controls. Apple does not publish a complete list of affected apps, so start by removing anything that may cover or capture the window.

## Stop screen capture and overlay apps

1. Close Apple’s purchase window, but leave GCal’s Premium window open.
2. Stop any active screen sharing or screen recording. If you are controlling the Mac remotely, complete the purchase locally on the Mac.
3. Quit apps that add floating controls or visual effects above other windows. Common categories include display, brightness, colour, resolution, window-border, dictation, AI assistant, capture, and remote-display utilities. Community-reported examples include Vivid, Wispr Flow, EasyRes, BetterDisplay, DisplayLink Manager, Typeless, JankyBorders, and OBS. You only need to quit them temporarily while completing the purchase. Quit the app completely rather than only hiding its menu bar icon.
4. If you use an external or virtual display, move GCal to the Mac’s built-in display or another standard display.
5. Make sure no other window covers GCal, then try the purchase again.

## Check the Hover Text setting

The macOS Hover Text accessibility feature has also been reported to make App Store purchase controls disappear, especially when it activates as the pointer enters the window.

1. Open **System Settings → Accessibility → Hover Text**.
2. Temporarily turn off **Hover Text**. If its activation lock is enabled, pressing the Command key three times also turns the lock off.
3. Return to GCal and try the purchase again. You can turn Hover Text back on afterward.

[Apple’s Hover Text guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchlb203bc78/mac) explains the setting and its activation shortcut.

## Try keyboard navigation if a control is clipped

Keyboard navigation is a community-reported workaround for a purchase control that is clipped or invisible. Apple documents the navigation keys, but does not list this as an official fix for the purchase window.

1. Open **System Settings → Keyboard** and turn on **Keyboard navigation**. [Apple’s keyboard navigation guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchlc06d1059/mac) explains the available controls.
2. Return to Apple’s purchase window. Press **Tab** or **Shift-Tab** until the purchase control is highlighted.
3. Check the product, billing period, price, and Apple Account again. If they are correct, press **Space** to activate the highlighted control.

If no purchase control becomes highlighted, do not press Space. Close the window and continue with the steps below.

## Reset the App Store purchase session

1. Check [Apple’s System Status page](https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/) for an App Store outage.
2. Open the Mac App Store and make sure you are signed in to the Apple Account you want to use.
3. If the purchase window still shows only Cancel, sign out of the App Store or Media & Purchases, restart your Mac, then sign in again.
4. Install the latest macOS update available for your Mac and retry.

If the Mac App Store also cannot install a free app, follow [Apple’s Mac App Store troubleshooting](https://support.apple.com/102331) for account, payment, network, and service checks.
